MILWAUKIE, Ore. – What should have been a quiet evening at home for a couple watching television turned into a real-life drama as a car came crashing into their house Thursday evening.

Mr. and Mrs. Inukai were watching television when a black 1997 Mercury Cougar driven by 31-year-old Sarah Rose Woodard jumped a curb and a sidewalk in the 11000 block of Southeast 35th Avenue.

The car then crossed a yard, smashed into a wall of the couple’s garage, barreled through it and crashed through the opposite wall before coming to a stop, according to police.

The couple was frightened but uninjured.

The impact launched a large chest of drawers and a bookshelf into another room.

Milwaukie police said Woodard was driving too fast when she attempted to round a curve in the road.

Woodard was driving home with her 6-year-old son around 5 p.m. after picking up a pizza when the accident happened. They were not injured.

Police cited Woodard for driving over the 25 mph speed limit and for not updating the address on her driver's license.
