Anti-EmX group files appeal to block W 11th expansion

EUGENE, Ore. - The Our Money, Our Transit group has gone to court to try and stop Lane Transit District from building an Em-X bus route in west Eugene.

Our Money, Our Transit filed an appeal in the Seattle federal court to get an injunction blocking the project. Organizer Bob Macherione said the group filed the report because they claim LTD's environmental impact studies have been flawed.

"Everybody in this community knows we don't need 89 buses a day to Walmart - and we won't need it in 20 years either, so it's pretty obvious what's wrong with this," said Macherione.

Project opponents say they believe the project would severely harm West 11th businesses during construction.

LTD officials had no comment on the appeal today, saying they've not received the documents.
