Crash injuries claim life of Florence woman

WALTON, Ore. - A Florence woman died Saturday after being injured Oct. 14 in a car crash on Highway 126W near Walton, Oregon State Police said.

Sharen Ann Joslin, 72, of Florence was a passenger in a Toyota Prius hit by an oncoming SUV.

The driver of the Dodge Durango, David D. Beck, 52, of Springfield lost control in a curve and crossed into on-coming traffic, state police said.

The crash left Beck and the driver of the Prius, Richard JOslin, 74, with minor injuries. A passenger in the Dodge, Melanie K. Whitehead, 51, of Springfield, was taken to the hospital after the crash.

OSP troopers from the Florence Area Command office are continuing the investigation. Trooper Leland Farrar is the lead investigator.
