Police car collides with motorcycle
EUGENE, Ore. - A police officer en route to assist fellow officers with a traffic stop collided with a motorcyclist Thursday afternoon, injuring the rider.
The Eugene Police Major Collision Investigation Team is investigating the crash since it involved a police vehicle involved in response mode, the police department said. Their findings will be submitted to the district attorney for review.
The crash happened at 1:08 p.m.
Eugene Police Officer Michael Klews, 36, was northbound on River Road, responding to provide backup to two other officers at a traffic stop with a potential armed subject.
Donald Ray McCullough, 73, of Eugene was riding a 2007 Harley Davidson Road King westbound on River Avenue, turning south onto River Road, when the collision occurred.
The motorcyclist was treated at the scene and released, police said. The officer was uninjured.
Police expected River Road northbound to be down to one lane until 5 p.m. due to the investigation.

Oh how awesome it is when people automatically jump to finding our Officers guilty of misconduct. Because obviously, the media ALWAYS gets the story right, so lets just believe what is written. Every time.
Was the cop given the third degree by another cop? Questioned as if they were already wrong and convicted of some unseen crime? Made to look like a crimkinal good while 15 other squad cars arrived as "back up"?

Just curious.
@OregonOrator: I suppose its safe to say you belive bicyclists are always in the right as well, and that although they don't follow even the simplest of bicycle road rules, they should be treated like vehicles, as they cut across all four lanes of 6th and 7th avenue without so much as looking behind them?
@RationalCitizen2012 It isn't a bicycle, so what are you talking about?
@RationalCitizen2012 No. Why do you think that?
er....."criminal goon" that is....
What does "traffic stop with a potential armed subject" mean? Did the subject pull a gun on the officers? Did the officers recognize the subject as a person with an active warrant?  Was there a firearm being improperly transported by a person? Or was it just a case of the vehicle plates coming back as being registered to an individual with a CHL? A lot more information would be appreciated. Glad the rider wasn't more seriously hurt and a good reminder to all riders how diligent we have to be about being aware of our surroundings when riding.
Way more details are needed.
@PleaseBeSmart its the motorcyclist fault because cops never make mistakes when cops investigate cops
@Iam1woody Hah, only when corrupt cops investigate other cops. Internal affairs actually does a pretty good job keeping cops in line. But in this case I really want to know if the officer was speeding and blowing through intersections without having his lights and sirens on... or if the motorcycle just wasn't paying attention. =/ I've seen some bikers lately with freakin earbuds on inside their helmet... I know they can't hear a thing. Makes me wan to give them a lecture every time I see it. I hate seeing motorcyclists hurt...
@PleaseBeSmart me I hate to see any person harmed and I have been more fearful of bikers being hurt since my middle son bought his first bike this month.wrecked my last 3 bike cause i aint that bright and a slow learner,my wife of over 30 years said no more bikes your an idiot and i aint done torturing you yet,
