NEAR ROOSEVELT, Wash. - Fire crews in Washington contained a small wildfire east of Goldendale Tuesday afternoon.

The blaze broke out near the small town of Roosevelt, east of Goldendale, in the Columbia River along State Highway 14, which was closed temporarily while the fire was put out.

Officials said the fire only grew to about one acre in size before it was considered contained. It's the second fire to pop up in the Gorge in recent days. Another fire near The Dalles on Monday was also quickly contained by fire crews.

Smoke from the fire blew down the Columbia River Gorge as it burned and could be seen from Arlington, Oregon, located across the Columbia River.

Officials have not said how the fire may have started.
