CANNON BEACH, Ore. -- A cyclist is critically injured after she was hit by a Dodge Caravan on Highway 101 Saturday  afternoon, police said.

35-year-old Christeen Osborn was riding northbound on Highway 101, trailing behind her husband in the bike path. The Hood River couple were biking south of Cannon Beach, around milepost 35. Just before 1:30 p.m. a Dodge Caravan driven by a 78-year-old Wanda Cortese from Kennewick, Wash. drifted onto the shoulder and hit Christeen Osborn from behind.

Osborn was thrown from her bike, and landed on the shoulder of the road. Her husband, who was farther ahead of Osborn, biked back toward the accident when she didn't catch up.

The woman was taken by Lifeflight to Legacy Emanuel Medical Center with critical injuries. A report released Sunday morning said Osborn is still in critical condition.

Investigators from the Oregon State Police are still unsure of the penalty facing Cortese.

Highway 101 was closed to one lane near the accident for four hours, causing some traffic delays.
