SANTIAM PASS - One person died and others were injured in a car crash Sunday afternoon along Highway 20 near the Santiam Summit.
Emergency crews closed the highway until the injured passengers could be taken from the scene.
State troopers say the crash happened at around 12:30 pm Sunday when the driver of a Ford Focus lost control on the wet roadway and drove into a guardrail.
The Ford continued into the eastbound lane and collided with a Toyota Camry near milepost 81. The Camry was hit in the driver's side by an SUV.
The Camry's driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officials said occupants from all three vehicles were injured, some in critical condition. All the injured passengers were flown or driven to St. Charles Medical Center in bend for treatment.
Information on the involved drivers and passengers will be released when family members are reached.
The eastbound lane of the highway is closed near milepost 81 and traffic is being flagged through the area, the Oregon Department of Transportation said.
