VIDA, Ore. -- A deadly motorcycle crash blocked Highway 126E just east of Vida Saturday morning, Oregon State Police said.
Troopers were called out to the crash near milepost 36 at around 9:50 a.m. Saturday.
Investigators said that Mark Rickman, 58, of Vida was riding his 1986 Harley around a lefthand curve a little too fast and left the roadway. His bike struck a roadside reflector and turned back onto the highway before crashing, State Police officials said.
Rickman was pronounced dead at the scene. He was wearing a protective helmet.
While State Police are still looking into the crash, investigators said they believe speed was a factor in the crash.
Highway 126E was closed for about an hour while police investigated the crash. The highway reopened to one lane for the next three hours, according to ODOT officials.
