Driver, 77, seriously injured when SUV crashes into rocky hillside
The small SUV crashed into the rocky embankment along Hwy 126 near Walton. The driver was seriously injured.

WALTON, Ore. - A 77-year-old Eugene woman suffered serious injuries when her car veered off the road and collided head-on with a rocky hillside along Highway 126W on Tuesday.

Firefighters pulled Doris Jones from the wreckage of her 2013 Toyota RAV. An air ambulance rushed her to the hosptial, where she is reportedly in ICU, state police said.

Jones was eastbound near Walton around 12:45 p.m. when he Toyota veered off the road as it came out of turn.

The car came to an abrupt stop, crashing into the rock wall along the highway, police said.

State police said the crash is under investigation.
