Driver airlifted after crash into tree near Cottage Grove lake

COTTAGE GROVE, Ore. -- A person was flown to the hospital with serious injuries Wednesday night after they crashed a car into a tree near Cottage Grove Lake, South Lane Fire and Rescue officials said.

The crash happened just before 8 p.m. Wednesday when a small sedan drove into a tree at the intersection of Reservoir and Piper Creek Roads, South Lane Division Chief Joe Raade said.

Arriving medical crews said they found the driver outside the car with serious injuries.

The driver was flown by Life Flight to Riverbend Medical Center in Springfield. As of Thursday morning Lane County officials do not know the person's condition.
