OAKRIDGE, Ore. - A 61-year-old Oakridge man died when his pickup drove off the highway and went airborne over Salt Creek Wednesday evening.

The pickup crash landed on its wheels in the water on the opposite side of the creek, police said.

The driver, Ronnie Lee Sieben, was thrown from the vehicle on impact. He died at the scene.

State police said the crash happened around 7:30 p.m. about 2 miles east of Oakridge. As Sieben's 2005 Dodge R250 pickup approached a curve in the road, it instead traveled straight off the highway toward the creek.

Investigators do not know what caused truck to drive off the road. Police said Sieben was not wearing a seatbelt.
