Driver seriously injured in crash at highway intersection
The driver of this Subaru was not injured. The driver of the other car suffered serious injuries, police said.

ALBANY, Ore. - A driver suffered serious injuries when he attempted to turn left onto Highway 20 and got hit by an oncoming car Tuesday morning, Oregon State Police said.

The crash happened just after 9 a.m. at the intersection of Independence Highway and Hwy. 20.

As Tomas A. Garza, 42, of McMinnville attempted to turn left from a stop sign at the intersection, a Subaru station wagon hit the driver's side of Garza's Honda Civic.

Firefighters pulled Garza, 42, from the wreckage and rushed him to Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center with serious injuries.

The driver of the Subaru, 25-year-old Ethan Glaser of Albany, was not injured, police said.

Highway 20 was blocked in both directions for about 50 minutes during the incident response and investigation.

State police cited Garza for Fail to Obey a Traffic Control Device - Stop Sign.
