Egan Warming Centers looking for volunteers, donations

EUGENE, Ore. -- The Egan Warming Centers will be open again Tuesday night, and officials are asking for volunteers to help out.

The Egan Warming Centers will be open for the seventh night in a row, and they say many volunteers have braved the elements to ensure the centers can be open.

They are asking all trained Egan volunteers to serve at their nearest site tonight and  tomorrow morning.

With more bad weather forecast in coming weeks, the centers need to add to their pool of trained volunteers.

Two trainings are scheduled this week, and anyone interested in becoming an Egan volunteer should attend one of these trainings.

The first is Thursday, December 12, from 6:30-8:30 pm at Valley Covenant Church on 18th & Bailey Hill Rd.

The second will be held Saturday, December 14, from 10 a.m. until noon at the First Christian Church located on 1166 Oak St.

Donations of blankets, coats, shoes, socks, gloves and other basic gear are badly needed, they said.

To donate supplies to Egan, you can take them to your nearest St Vincent de Paul store and make sure they are clearly marked "For Egan".

These will be routed to the various sites.
