WALDPORT, Ore. - Oceana Drive looks like a sand dune instead of a neighborhood street.

Carol Bothello knows the routine all too well.

"We wish it were snow," she told KVAL News, "because at least the snow would melt and go away on its own."

And this was a good day, she said. Bothello has seen it much worse.

"Piles up on the doors where you can't get out," she said. "My husband is out there shoveling, shoveling."

It happens every winter: storms blow the sand, and the sand piles up and forms dunes against anything stationary, like a house.
