Suspect booked for murder after man shot, killed in dispute off River Rd.
A man died Friday after he was shot multiple times at a home off River Road in Eugene. Lane County deputies took Brian Irving Sears (at left) to the sheriff's office for an interview. Sears was booked at the Lane County Jail early Saturday morning on a felony murder charge.

EUGENE, Ore. -- A man died Friday afternoon when he was shot during a dispute in a neighborhood off River Road, authorities said.


Officers responded to a home on Ruby Ave. at around 5:40 p.m. Friday after getting reports of a fight involving gunfire.


Officers reported finding a man laying in the front yard of the house with multiple gunshot wounds. Medical staff pronounced the victim dead at the scene.


Lane County deputies took Brian Irving Sears to the sheriff's office for an interview. Sears was booked at the Lane County Jail early Saturday morning on a felony murder charge.


Authorities are waiting to release the name of the victim until his family has been notified.



Sears was booked at the county jail multiple times in 2004 and 2005 on various menacing and assault charges. In 2012 he was charged with harassment, criminal mischief and carrying a concealed handgun.
