BLUE RIVER, Ore. -- A 67-year-old woman was killed in a crash Saturday afternoon that blocked Highway 126E just east of the McKenzie River Bridge, state police said.
Emergency crews responded to a call about a vehicle in the ditch at milepost 51 along the McKenzie (126E) Highway at around 1:30 p.m. Saturday.
They arrived to find a 1979 Ford pickup carrying two passengers turned over on its side, resting in a ditch.
Officials said that the driver, William Gotter, 71 of Springfield, was driving east on the highway when he lost control in a corner. The pickup then went off the shoulder of the highway and rolled over on its side.
State troopers said that Marilyn Louise Gotter (William's wife) was killed in the crash. William was uninjured.
Officials said that snow and ice covering the highway was likely to blame for the crash.
Emergency responders were called out to four similar crashes on the McKenzie Highway Saturday, two of which happened within 4 miles of the fatal crash.
