SPRINGFIELD, Ore. - A father fractured his 6-month-old son's skull, sending the boy to the hospital - and landing dad in jail, Springfield Police said.

Police arrested Brian Wayne Clinton Wynn, 20, on three counts of first degree assault.

The investigation started Monday when officers responded to McKenzie Willamette Hospital to investigate suspicious injuries to the boy's skull, police said.

Springfield Police Sgt. David Lewis said the infant was treated for a fractured skull and then flown by air ambulance to Legacy Emanuel Hospital in Portland, where a medical exam identified older injuries to the child.

Police allege Wynn caused the injuries to the boy through abuse, Sgt. Lewis said.

Officials said the boy’s injuries are not considered life-threatening at this time.
