Fiery crash burns semi hauling hamburgers

TROUTDALE, Ore. - A trucker escaped a fiery crash with minor injuries after his semi hauling hamburgers crashed and caught fire Tuesday evening, Oregon State Police said.

Michael W. Chase, 69, of Woodburn was westbound on Interstate 84 east of Troutdale around 5:40 p.m. when he took the Benson State Park exit.

Chase's 1999 Volvo semi hauling a trailer loaded with hamburgers overturned on the wet roadway, police said.

A fire started in the engine compartment and spread through the truck and trailer.

Chase was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
