EUGENE, Ore. - A fire in downtown Eugene prompted evacuations and put up flame and smoke visible from the KVAL Towercam atop Blanton Heights in South Eugene.

No word yet on what caused the fire.

The building houses Puttin' on the Ritz antiques store on the first floor and apartments above.

Witnesses told KVAL News the people who live above the store got out OK.

A battalion fire chief said no one was hurt in the fire, and fire crews battled the blaze without suffering any injuries.

The flames roared back to life at one point, and a section of roof in the old wooden building collapsed.

Witnesses at the scene said a crowd was pushed back away from the fire as crews worked to knock the fire down.
