Fire destroys Rexius building

EUGENE, Ore. - A fire at the Rexius production building on Bailey Hill Road and West 11th Avenue caused the roof to cave in and the walls to collapse.

The battalion chief said no one was inside at the time and that no one was hurt.

Crews are still investigating the cause and said it may take some due to the size of the building.

Lance Lighty, battalion chief with Eugene Fire Department, said the building was fully involved with fire when crews arrived just before midnight Thursday. Flames were visible through the roof, and the roof had already caved in.

He said it took crews about a half hour to knock down the flames. Fire crews had to share one hydrant between two fire engines.
