Firefighters pull 3 from burning house; fire 'suspicious'

EUGENE, Ore. - Firefighters pulled 3 people from a smoke-filled house early Tuesday morning while fighting a "suspicious" fire.

One of the people was taken to the hospital by ambulance. The nature of that person's injuries are not known.

Fire crews got called out to 953 W 8th Ave. just after 5 a.m.

As they arrived on scene, firefighters could see light smoke coming from the house.

Crews entered the home and heard people yelling for help. Three people were rescued; one of them was taken to the hospital.

The fire was contained to the basement. 

The fire is being investigated and is suspicious in nature, Eugene Springfield Fire said.

The fire was under control by 5:24 a.m.
