3 swim to shore after fishing boat runs aground near Newport

NEWPORT, Ore. (AP) — Officials are investigating how a fishing vessel ended up grounded near Newport.

The U.S. Coast Guard said Sunday that the fishing vessel Nat ran aground Saturday. Three crew members on the boat swam to shore and were treated for possible hypothermia.

Officials say an estimated 700 gallons of diesel fuel remains on board but said Sunday afternoon that no pollution has been reported.
