Four banks vandalized by mob in Portland

PORTLAND, Ore. – A mob of dozens of people crowded Southeast Hawthorne Boulevard Thursday night throwing rocks through bank building windows and bottles at pedestrians, according to Portland police.
Police said one caller to 911 reported that the group numbered between 50 and 75 people. It was reported that the vandals also walked into traffic and blocked vehicles.
Four banks were hit by the mob. Someone in the group threw a rock through the Chase Bank Window at 3902 Southeast Hawthorne, police said.
They also said the group broke windows at the U.S. Bank at 1225 Southeast Cesar Chavez Boulevard and the Walgreens Drug Store nearby.
The Umpqua Bank at 3557 Southeast Hawthorne and the Wells Fargo Bank at 3782 Hawthorne were also hit by the vandals.
Police detained several people but haven’t arrested anyone at this time. They said the group was last seen walking eastbound on Southeast Belmont Street and then scattered.
Police said they will contact the affected businesses to find out if they have surveillance video so investigators can attempt to identify suspects.
They are also asking that anyone who has video of the incidents or information about the vandalism to email Portland police at CrimeTips@PortlandOregon.gov.
It is unknown at this time what motivated the vandalism.
This story is developing and will be updated . . . .
More and more, it's just the American people who are fed up with the banks. Anyone who is bothered by the windows being broken of criminal organizations, and not bothered by the fact these organizations have stolen trillions from our economy and got away with it, doesn't have the appropriate ethical priorities.
@Jason M. Glover You're talking about ethics while defending people who destroyed private property, threw bottles at perfectly innocent people, and blocked traffic? What a freakin joke.
"It is unknown at this time what motivated the vandalism." REALLY? =/ Hmm, who in Portland likes to block traffic and target banks? Oh, that's right... Occupy.
Good work!
@Nogod Yeah, great work destroying property that wasn't theirs, throwing bottles at people, and blocking traffic they have no right to block.
@PleaseBeSmart  @Nogod The banks have no trouble destroying property that's not theirs, stealing what isn't theirs, putting people out of their homes, running giant scams that collapse like a house of cards and screw us all. They have no problem with any of that because they know they operate above the law and will get away with it. It's time to throw every person that was involved in the financial collapse into prison.
so your defense is centered around the old "they did it, so I'm gonna do it too"?

geez, grow up or shut up.
@Jason M. Glover Oh yes, I know... The evil banks. Taking back houses that they paid for, as per the agreement, and kicking people out when they fail to pay... But let's fact it, Occupy isn't JUST mad at the Federal Reserve for devaluing the dollar and manipulating rates, Freddie May and Fannie Mac for making risky loans, the SEC for allowing banks to take on more debt, the shadow banking system, Countrywide and Ameriquest for predatory lending and mortgage fraud, Alan Greenspan for fighting to keep derivatives unregulated, President Carter for DIDMCA, President Reagan for allowing adjustable-rate mortgages and deregulating savings and loan associations, President Clinton for the GrammâLeachâBliley Act, the housing bubble and commodities boom, etc. Nope, Occupy is also hell-bent on destroying anyone who would DARE to make a profit and the entire capitalistic system. And rather than going after those who really had a hand in wrongdoing, Occupy likes to go after bank branch locations, destroying property, hassling employees who are just trying to do their job, blocking people who need to enter, stopping traffic, defying city ordinances and demanding special privileges, harassing police officers and lobbing lawsuits when they get rightfully pepper sprayed. And, to use your phrase... they have no problem with any of that because they know they operate above the law and will get away with it by using mobs and black blocs. Ah, the safety of numbers. How honorable!
