Nathan Mitchell tries his hand forecasting the weather for KVAL News with a little help from chief meteorologist Seth Wayne.

EUGENE, Ore. - Weather has fascinated Nathan Mitchell since he was 4 years old.

The fourth-grader at McGovern Elementary School in Winston decided at a young age that he wanted to be weather forecaster. He demonstrated his forecast skills at the school talent show a few weeks ago.

Nathan visited the studios of KVAL TV on Thursday at the invitation of chief meteorologist Seth Wayne.

With a little practice, Nathan was off and running with the weather.

"Take a look at satellite - there's the rain," Nathan said, then pointing ahead to the 7-day forecast. "Sunshine is not out of the question."

But when it comes to rain, he's not a fan - but he'll let you make up your own mind.

"By the weekend, showers come back, so I don't think that's going to be a good idea," he said, "but it might be good for you."
