Gallagher defeats Lee to win state GOP chair

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — Suzanne Gallagher has won the Oregon Republican Party chairmanship over two other candidates.
The party's state central committee chose Gallagher over John Lee, Jr., on the second round of balloting Saturday.
The 65-year-old Gallagher replaces Allen Alley, who did not seek a second term.
Gallagher will serve a two-year term through the 2014 election, which will be headlined by races for governor and U.S. Senate.
The party has not won a statewide race in a decade, controls just one of five congressional seats and is now in the minority in the state House and Senate.
I have in years past voted for the person I believed best meet the country's needs - once registered as a Democrat and now (reluctantly) as a Republican.  I voted for McCain while holding my nose because I knew mixing a Chicago politician in with the Washington politicians would only make a bad mix worse.  I voted for Romney more because I had seen Obama at his best and knew another four years would be worse and a total assault upon the American way of life.  The 47%  with their hands out for "Bama-phones and other tax-paid bribes prevailed.  I have decided that I never again will vote for the lesser of two weevils regardless of party and will no longer contribute to any party, but only contribute to the individual candidates.  What happened to the third candidate?  Has the press sentenced him to obscurity?
Why don't you include both of the candidates who were running against her? Â First paragraph states there were two and nowhere in the article are both named. Â
"The party has not won a statewide race in a decade, controls just one of five congressional seats and is now in the minority in the state House and Senate." I am an Independant and don't or would not advocate for either the Republicans or Democrats, but I have to ask myself how this state has gotten into such a mess, and why it is on a fast track to failure. There are a number of States in the Union now that are climbing out in good shape. What is happening to our wonderful State. I was born and raised here, and have never seen it this bad. Being a 5th Generation Oregonian I love my State and don't take kindly to people trying to ruin it.
