When gas prices soar, some cut down to keep up

EUGENE, Ore. - The price of gasoline is getting higher and higher, and some drivers are cutting back on other things they spend money on.

At the 76 Station on Willamette and 29th Avenue in Eugene, the price of regular gas was $3.99 per gallon on Saturday

Sabrina Ehler has been working there for a few months, and since prices have soared, so have the frustrations of Ehler's customers.

"Mostly, people getting mad," she said. "They always seem to get mad at me for it, like it's my issue," said Ehler.

Alex Fitzgerald is a junior at South Eugene High School, and he said he's had to make a few changes recently.

"I definitely have started packing my lunch more to school, got to cut down a bit," said Fitzgerald.

Ehler has seen a different type of cutting back.

"I see people coming with regular fills, and then the next time, they're doing only five dollars or a couple dollars," Ehler said.
