EAST OF SUTHERLIN, Ore. -- A huge boulder came down on a rural road east of Sutherlin, and traffic was cut down to one lane Tuesday morning.
In a YouNews photo sent in by Emily Blakely, you can see the boulder sitting in the westbound lane of Nonpareil Road.
County road crews were on scene Tuesday removing the boulder at 9 a.m.
Blakely says the boulder was in the road about 14 miles East of Sutherlin.
Blakely says no houses were threatened, but there was another boulder at the top of the ridge that looked like it could come down.
Robb Paul from Douglas County says the boulder came down Monday night, but the 16X8 foot boulder was too big to pick up.
The county has brought in an excavator to break it up, and the road will be completely closed as they destroy it.
