GLIDE, Ore. -- A 13-year-old Glide girl was struck by a vehicle on Tuesday, that police say was being driven by a woman having an argument with her son in the car.

Douglas County Sheriff's deputies were called to Little River Road near Lee Avenue just after 4:00 p.m., to a report of a girl being hit by a car.

Police say that Sara Lynn Norton, 28, also of Glide, was driving a Ford Explorer on Little River Road, when she started having an argument with her son.

Police said she looked over at her son, and the vehicle left the roadway and went up an embankment.

The vehicle came back down the embankment and struck the girl.

The victim was transported to Mercy Medical Center by ambulance for a broken leg and other injuries.

Police say that alcohol was not a factor and Norton was wearing her seat belt.

After investigating, police say Norton was driving with a suspended license and no insurance.

Police are continuing the investigation.
