SPRINGFIELD, Ore. -- The Willamalane Parks and Recreation District opened an indoor driving range Wednesday, giving golfers a place to practice year-round.

The indoor range opened at the Willamalane Center in Springfield. Willamalane district worker Seve Ghose said he hopes golfers make good use of the program expansion as they wait for the weather to improve.

"We though we'll try a golf range in here especially with the long winter season here so to speak with the rain and cooler temperatures," said Ghose. "The idea is to get seasoned golfers into a temperature controlled atmosphere to hit some balls.”

Golfers need to bring their own clubs to the range. Lessons are available by appointment at the Springfield facility which is open weekdays from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m.
