Steer clear of this highly dangerous sex offender, police say

PORTLAND, Ore. - Police are warning the public about a convicted sex offender who is considered a high risk to strike again.
Gordon Michael Strauss, who has been deemed by mental health officials as a psychopath and sadist with no ability to feel remorse, was recently released from a hospital in Central Washington and is now homeless and living in Portland.
Strauss is registered at Northwest 9th and Lovejoy. Police say if you see him, you should be on guard because two of his victims were snatched off the street.
"Typically, he preys on only girls from 13 to 22," said Officer Bridget Sickon with the Portland Police Bureau. "They're the type of crimes where he will meet somebody on the sidewalk or somewhere and be very nice to them and sort of ingratiate himself to them and maybe ask for a ride or a cigarette or something. And then all of a sudden there's a blitz attack. Two of his attacks were with knives."
Strauss has been convicted of four rapes since the early 1980s. He is not on supervised probation but police say he is very much on their radar.
Looks like a typical Eugene liberal to me
Shoot him, I will swear it was self defense, bring a knife in case he does not have one.
I want to harm it.
Â
So, first of all, how does this guy get released in the first place? Â Secondly, how is it possible, given his history, that he is on UNSUPERVISED probation?! Â WTH?!!!!! Â
Â
Don't blame law enforcement, folks, we do what we can to get these people behind bars, where they belong. Â The problem is what happens AFTER they are arrested. Â Our system is broken.
i just had a few beers at the black forest in eugene, and I do not believe what i have just read. the citizenry is alerted of this person (that much is good for fair warning---thank you press). So, my guess is that it is open season if we see the scum?
@peace i want to harm it.
Fear alert, fear alert!
@Paul Kersey. I take it that you don't have a wife, daughters, nieces, or any females in your life that you feel protective about...
@Paul Kersey. No, is more like creep alert.Â
Â
If I saw this guy ANYWHERE near my daughter, I wouldn't need a press release to judge the situation as at very least "inappropriate " if not down right dangerous.Â
Â
Pull a knife?, take a dirt nap!
And why is this dangerous sex criminal on the streets in Portland? Â Why should any Oregonian pay taxes for "law enforcement" or "the criminal justice system" or "the judiciary?" Â Obama wants to take our firearms away and everyday in every way the citizen's wives and children are increasingly placed in danger of humiliation, rape, aids, and murderous attacks and are expected to pay for it! Â Today Eric Holder, Obama's Attorney General, decided that four black muslims who shot a white woman to death would not be subject to the death penalty no matter what the trial discloses. Â Of course Holder is just "taking care of his people" as he has said before, but these monsters, if they are found guilty, will be in the pen for a short period and then out on the streets killing, raping, and - yes - shooting unarmed citizens.
this has nothing to do with Oregon, or Oregoinians. Read the article, he was released from Washington. As to why he is out of prison (or whatever) that would be a Washington State law issue. if he has been released, the police have no control over that, that would be based on his sentence(s), the State (Washington in this case) department of corrections, and/or the mental hospital he was in.
Â
As for Holder, yeah isn't that neat.
Â
I don't know what sentencing laws Washington, as I have never lived in Washington (nor do I plan to), but Oregon does not have a 3-strikes law but we do have mandatory sentencing for animals like this....
@Reality I'm still waiting for a reply on this...your lack of knowledge!
@Reality Reality..... read the article, YES it does have something to do with oregon.Â
Â
HE IS LIVING IN PORTLAND!!
Â
LAST I CHECKED, PORTLAND HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH OREGON.Â
@Reality Yeah, Oregon does have a 3 strikes law!

@colorowdy As awful a history as he has, the main difference between you and him is impulse control. Your desire to torture and punish based on a media article is just as dangerous and psychopathic as this guy. The part where you say you rights shouldn't even be _considered_ really shows the depth of the evil of your views.
Â
You don't seem to have any remorse for the lost rights of innocent and upstanding citizens that would come about by ceasing to even consider rights when the right accusation is made.
Yeah....Guys like this are walking the streets and the liberals want to take our guns away? Makes sense...
@Johnny 2 Thumbs Just a hint, conservative talk radio hosts are not "liberals." So therefore, they're not a good source of what policies "liberals" want.
Â
If you're actually in Oregon, you shouldn't have any trouble finding a liberal to ask them about gun policy.
"...Deemed by mental health officials as a psychopath and sadist with no ability to feel remorse, was recently released..."
Â
If he commits another offense, whoever was involved with the approval of his release should be charged as an accomplice.
@ST4 Yeah, I'm sure that would increase the quality of the decisions mental health workers make! Oh, wait... no, it wouldn't.
"Strauss has been convicted of four rapes since the early 1980s." Why have our law enforcement and mental health officials allowed this man to walk the streets? Why wasn't he sentenced to life in a prison or mental health facility for being a habitual offender and a high risk for offending again? And just as important, why haven't those law enforcement and mental health officials been held responsible for foisting this despicable piece of filth on the public? I would certainly be disappointed to read that this man had been found dead in an alley somewhere.
He has been convicted of four rapes. CONVICTED. (What happened to the 3 strikes??) He's "deemed by mental health officials as a psychopath and sadist with no ability to feel remorse." He is "a convicted sex offender who is considered a high risk to strike again."Â Aside from the obvious, I see several reason right there that I thought are supposed to be legal cause enough to keep him locked up. This predator should not be loose. Needs to be put down like the sick animal he is.
@eugene123 Half the things you list are past crimes that apparently he already served the time he was sentenced to. The other half are regrettable character flaws or medical conditions, depending on your perspective, but not in themselves against the law. Being without remorse should have instructed past sentencing to be more strict, but it is not itself a crime, and it would terrible if it was. The last thing we need is the government punishing people based on what government doctors diagnose as their mental state. There is lots of history of governments attempting that, and they're just not competent.
Â
As for your desire to have people murdered after they complete their sentences, I have to say, you should be rather glad that character flaws and evil mental state are not crimes!
Â
As far as "3 strikes," we didn't pass that law until the mid-late 90s, so that explains why he didn't hit it for his crimes from the 80s.
Â
You can't create Justice by ignoring the law whenever you think somebody needs more punishment... based on a news article no less!
if we dont protect ourselves who will. its not the courts, its not the da its not the police so who.
@censoredirawoody it isn't their job to protect you, it is their job to punish wrong-doers... after they've done wrong.
Â
If you want protection, I recommend armed private security.
@censoredirawoody Lock-n-Load and fire if fired upon is what it's coming down to these days.Very sad indeed.
@censoredirawoody May I suggest Smith & Wesson. Or maybe Auto Browning and my cousin Ruger.
@censoredirawoody: We must protect ourselves and our loved ones by any means necessary.
I have found out recently that the justice system is flawed more than my rose colored glasses saw.
Great, let's have this monster free to wander around until he kills a few teenagers/young women. THEN, maybe we'll be able to do something about him. :-/
@XoztedMama Since the Portland Police are keeping an eye on him, I doubt he'll kill more than 1 before they have the legal means to "do something about him." And if their warning to the community causes a young woman to be aware enough that she is able to move quickly and escape, they'd have a chance to get him without anybody else getting hurt.
