Plans are also in the works to restore the interior

ROSEBURG, Ore. - A piece of history is being restored at the Douglas County Museum, thanks to a grant from the Oregon Community Foundation.

The old Oregon and California railroad car was donated to the museum by the City of Glendale, Ore., last year.

The grant will be used to install a new undercarriage for the car.

"It's keeping a piece of that history alive so that future children can come out and see all there is to learn about the O and C railroads and history of Douglas County," said Janet Morse, a volunteer with the Oregon Community Foundation.

Renovation plans are in the works for the inside of the railcar, which still has some of its original windows and woodwork.
