Honoring those who serve our community on September 11th

SPRINGFIELD, Ore. -- In honor of September 11th, the McKenzie-Willamette medical center showed appreciation for Springfield’s first responders by treating the local heroes to lunch.
Members of local fire, police and medical teams found a few moments between calls to grab a bite at Tuesday’s barbecue.
McKenzie-Willamette felt that it was fitting to honor those who serve the community, as well as remember and honor what so many did for New York 11 years ago.
“First responders do so much for out community. This is just a small token of our appreciation. At the hospital we see it everyday in the emergency room and other places.” Maurine Cate of McKenzie-Willamette Medical Center said.
Tuesday’s barbecue marked the fifth annual local heroes celebration at the hospital.
