PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — When a wind storm knocked out power at the Oregon Humane Society in Portland it hardly slowed down pet surgeries.
Executive Director Sharon Harmon says an emergency generator kept one of three surgical suites operating Monday, with lighting supplied by lanterns.
KGW reports of 68 surgical procedures scheduled for the day, only four had to be postponed.
Many of the procedures were part of the shelter's "spay and save" program for low-income cat owners.
