"The Messengers" on display at the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art at the University of Oregon

EUGENE, Ore. - A new art exhibit foregoes paint brushes in favor of digital interactivity.

"The Messengers" is the newest art installation at the Jordan Schnitzer Musuem of Art on the University of Oregon campus.

Visitors send a text message to the exhibit, which is made up of rotating fans with LCD lights.

The text message is then on display for all to see, matched with similar words from Twitter.

The end results: a sentence - often nonsensical - derived from your text message.

"It's about our use of electronic technology for communication and how sometimes it can go a little awry," said Kathy Marmor, the artist, "and that what we send out doesn't necessarily mean that's what we get back."

The piece will be on display until March 16.

Marmor will be at the musuem Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. to discuss the piece.
