EUGENE, Ore. --  The tragedy of the Colorado theater shooting spree has shocked communities all across America and the world, and for KVAL's Phil Milani the epicenter of Friday's events happened in his hometown of Aurora, Colorado.

Milani was able to catch up with his family members still living in the city via Skype on Saturday and talk about the events that happened 15 minutes from his childhood home. They shared stories about the town, and of times they had visited the theater where the shooting happened.

Family members said that the mood in Aurora is very somber, still resonating in the shock if the tragedy.

"The mood now is just quiet... everything is still quiet." said Andrew Milani, Phil's younger brother. "Everyone is upset ... just living their lives right now."

The family said that while Friday's events are still present in people's minds, they have not seen memorials for victims of the shootings around town yet.
