Community radio KXCR 90.7 FM to hit airwaves April 1

FLORENCE, Ore. - In a remodeled old house across from the Siuslaw Library, KXCR 90.7 FM is getting ready to hit the airwaves.

In the planning stages for 7 years, the non-commercial community radio station plans to start broadcasting April 1.

Don Langston, president of the KXCR board, said programing will include music, news and public affairs programs.

The main studio is still being wired up. Langston estimates about $80,000 worth of donations from other radio stations and the University of Oregon School of Journalism and Communications have made the all-volunteer station possible.
