Lane County Fair off to a hot start
EUGENE, Ore. - People braved the heat to line up and get into the Lane County Fair on Wednesday.
Once inside, they cooled off.
Kids took a boat ride down a lazy river. Adults slathered on the suncreen.
And visitors took advantage of water stations and misters set up around the fairgrounds.
"Today's a great day to come to the fair," said Rachel Bivens. "Dollar fifty ride and game day - every one comes in for the rides, so it's a great day to come to the fair."
The rides prompted one fairgoer to bring $300 cash.
For others, it's about making family traditions.
"We're very excited," said Kristin Mentel, who attended Wednesday with her son Sebastian. "We've gone every year since he was almost two years old, and he's almost five."
You know, on Friday there's an arm band for like $25 that lets you ride as many rides as you want before 5pm. No need to spend 300 bucks...
"The rides prompted one fairgoer to bring $300 cash."  So he got like 5- 45 second rides then... Seriously a RIP OFF, Super taxed for what little they deliver. The prices go up and the ride time goes down. Thre food is overpriced and poorly cooked and there are armed uniformed  terrorists walking about, as well as many more wannabee terrorist minions sculking about. Lets not even get into the rotten carnie attitudes the workers have...
I hope this year there's better, cooler ventilation for the animal exhibitions - those buildings are ovens in this heat. Last year you could see the animals were very distressed in the heat. KVAL should do a story on this.
 @Jill Dunphy-Hanns Really? Are we talking about farm animals here? Because normally they're out in the heat anyway. =/Â
@PleaseBeSmart @Jill Dunphy-Hanns You got to love air-conditioned pork .....on a bun=)
