LINCOLN CITY, Ore. -- Fire ripped through the historic Crab Pot in Lincoln City Thursday afternoon, shutting down Highway 101 for almost two hours while crews worked to extinguish the flames.

Firefighters were called out to the restaurant at around 3 p.m. Thursday. They arrived to find the building, originally built in 1929, engulfed in flames.

Law enforcement closed down Hwy 101 to let crews safely fight the fire from the roadway.

Fire officials estimate the damage at $120,000.

The fire department launched an investigation into what caused the blaze that officials believe started near the back of the building.
