MAPLETON, Ore. - A log truck and trailer tipped over and blocked Highway 126 Wednesday afternoon.

The driver was not injured.

The crash happened just before 1 p.m. when a log truck and two loaded trailers driven by James Schripsema, 47, of Florence tipped over while negotiating a turn onto a bridge over the Siuslaw River.

The truck and first trailer came to rest on their sides; the second trailer did not overturn.

The wreck blocked one lane of Hwy 126 throughout the afternoon.

Schripsema was checked by Western Lane Ambulance paramedics and found not to be injured. He was using safety restraints.

A small amount of diesel spilled from the truck's fuel tank and was contained on the bridge.

Northwest HazMat responded to clean up the spill. The Oregon Department of Transportation responded to coordinate traffic control and assess the bridge for damage, but no significant damage was found, according to state police.
