Man accused of attacking nude dancer
UPDATE: On November 19, the Lane County District Attorney's Office told KVAL News that all charges against Eliaser Baez-Duarte stemming from this case were dismissed. A review of the evidence did not support the dancer's account of events, the chief deputy DA said.
SPRINGFIELD, Ore. - A 23-year-old nude dancer told police a customer raped her in a private room Sunday night.
Officers arrested Eliaser Baez-Duarte, 29, on charges of rape, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct, Springfield Police said.
Prosecutors reviewed the investigation and filed misdemeanor third degree sex abuse charges against Baez-Duarte.
The woman told police Baez-Duarte exposed himself as she danced naked for him in a private room at Sweet Illusions, 1836 South A St. in Springfield.
The suspect grabbed her from behind and forced himself on her, police said of the woman's account of the incident.
She broke free from Baez-Duarte and ran from the room.
Bouncers at the club held Baez-Duarte until police arrived.
My guess is she tried to do a John without her pimp knowing about it.
He is the owner of Emmos in Springfield!
 @UsaidWHAT Memo's Mexican Restaurant.
 @LanecoRes Gotcha. Thank you.
 @UsaidWHAT What is that?

Lane County prosecutors have filed a misdemeanor sex-abuse charge against a Springfield man who had been accused by police of raping a dancer at a local strip club on Sunday night.
Police had initially booked 29-year-old Eliaser Baez-Duarte into the Lane County Jail on a first-degree rape charge in connection with the incident that allegedly occurred at Sweet Illusions at 1836 South A St. in Springfield.
Prosecutors reviewed the investigation and decided today to charge Baez-Duarte with third-degree sexual abuse. He was arraigned on the charge this afternoon in Lane County Circuit Court.
Baez-Duarte remains in jail this afternoon.
The 23-year-old victim told investigators that she was dancing nude for Baez-Duarte in a private room at Sweet Illusions when he exposed himself, grabbed her from behind and forced himself on her, Springfield police said.
The dancer was able to pull free from Baez-Duarte moments after the alleged assault began, and she kicked him before she ran from the room to seek help, police said.

EUGENE, Ore. â Eugene police are looking for the man who raped a woman Friday morning in the West University area.
A victim says the attack happened in a parking lot behind Rennieâs Landing on Kincaid Street.
The suspect is a light-complected African American man about 25 to 35 years old. He has short hair and was wearing a white coat and jeans.
The woman thinks he may have been driving a white luxury car, similar to a Lexus.
Anyone with information should call Eugene police.
Â
i wonder what he drives at night he could be mistakens for a light-complected African American man
What's most disturbing is the fact that he is married and a business owner in Springfield!Â
As far as the rape.. Well don't put your self in the situation.. what are the private rooms really for? Most do exchange sexual relations for money... Maybe he paid before, and got the full meal deal, so he was expecting it again.. Who knows the whole story.Â
These places are trash! and ugg he wasn't even worried about the AIDs, Herps, or Hep C she probably has!Â
I know I'm going to get a lot of comments on this, but I post what I think!Â
This guy should have asked the five Republican House members that went to the strip club in Palm Springs how to treat women. They set the example for respectable behavior.
 @umpqua rafter Maybe they should ask Mr. president Bill Clinton? Or good ole Bob Packwood?
It's a problem that Sweet Illusions was not able to prevent this, and even more of a problem that there are men (and a large volume of them) that rape. The woman that was stripping was not responsible for preventing this, if men want to continue endorsing strip clubs - then be moral fathers, brothers, and members of society. The trauma this woman is now experiencing is unbelievably sad.Â
 @Johnny Men aren't the only ones endorsing strip clubs, and what constitutes a "large volume?"
Fire ALL the bouncers immediately. Obviously not fit for the job, or ANY security position. I won't be recommending this place anymore, to my late night taxi customers.Â

 @2easy2berightback This event does not warrant racism, as none should. Maybe sexism, as men are statistically the perpetrators, and by a large margin.
 @Johnny He literally said not a thing about race... only nationality and culture.Â
 @Johnny  @PleaseBeSmart Illegal alien is not a racial slur. And it is time to deport them all.
 @Johnny "Is 'Illegal Immigrant' a racist slur? Some activist groups say it is." ... I don't care what some activist groups think. =/ Not even a little bit. He prefers 'economic refugee'... seriously? Because that means something completely different. Words have meanings, and if you are here illegally... you're an illegal. If you're offended by that I can't say I care at all. Someone being offended by something doesn't make it racist. Again, we're talking about a nationality, not a race. As for my Mexican peers who are here legally, I know plenty of them who cannot stand illegals. They know it makes them look bad, and they resent it after they've gone through the proper channels and worked to be here. I know plenty of them who don't feel that way and cannot stand me on sight because of my skin color too. What does it matter? Different people have different opinions, and someone being darker than me doesn't make them the authority on anything. I'm sure a lot of them would be offended by people assuming they are here illegally because they're Mexican, or of Mexican origin. And they'd be justified in finding it offensive... but that doesn't make it racist.Â
 @PleaseBeSmart Back to the beginning, the comment that I said was racist. http://www.nationalreview.com/articles/303963/illegal-immigrant-racial-slur-ian-tuttle# With that, I end my arguing, my opinion stands with people who are Latino that take offense to being called 'illegal' or 'aliens.' I am sure you can argue against this. Go for it. Tolerance is growing in the U.S., and that is enough assurance for me to know that these terms won't be acceptable in years to come, and with good reason. Why don't you ask your peers who are Latino how they feel about being called 'illegal aliens?"  and how they feel about people assuming they do not have papers because they are Latino?
 @Johnny I literally gave six definitions from three different sources. There was nothing about unfair treatment, because quite frankly that's applying more connotations to the word than it actually has unto itself. And let's not resort to Reductio ad Hitlerum... it's a sad, tired fallacious ploy. My assertions are based on modern science, not the ravings of a racist dictator. In no way do I believe one race is superior to others, nor did I even suggest it. I'm not sure what you want me to say about your last couple sentences. It just sounds like you lashing out instead of making a rational argument. This conversation has nothing to do with homosexuality, nor gender politics, so let's leave that for another time. As for the EEOC, discrimination is entirely inappropriate when it comes to anything to do businesses open to the public or with our government's treatment of our citizens and legal residents. Something being inappropriate in certain situations doesn't make it overall inappropriate.Â
 @PleaseBeSmart I shared the Equal Employment Opportunity piece to connect discrimination of someone based on their nationality to being inappropriate, thank you for making assumptions, as usual.
 @PleaseBeSmart  @Johnny Again, you are choosing ONE definition, browse a variety and you'll see many come up referring to unfair treatment, or similar (please stop taking everything I say word for word, I think you are intelligent enough to recognize synonyms). And you'll have to excuse me for not realizing you'd have the ONLY correct dictionary, how ignorant of me. You're argument is sounding far too similar to Hitler's. I would love to hear you argue that, as if you argue against him, that is a very much a good thing. Luckily, we are a progressive nation, finally breeding children that are accepting of people who are gay and Latinos who are choosing to live in the U.S. White conservative males are not the majority in making decisions, and that is praiseworthy.
 @Johnny And since I'm not a business, OP isn't a business, and we're not talking about a business... I'm not sure how you think the EEOC has anything to do this?Â
 @Johnny How about we just stick with the dictionary rather than your definition? =/ "treatment or consideration of, or making a distinction in favor of or against, a person or thing based on the group, class, or category to which that person or thing belongs rather than on individual merit... to note or distinguish as different... prejudicial or distinguishing treatment of an individual based on his or her membership - or perceived membership - in a certain group or category... to make a difference in treatment or favor on a basis other than individual merit... the act, practice, or an instance of discriminating categorically rather than individually... prejudiced or prejudicial outlook, action, or treatment." Stereotypes are just one of many "initial gauges" that people use to evaluate situations and people. When humans are not familiar with the exact thing they're faced with, we search our knowledge and experience for things that are similar to that thing and we apply what we know about the similar thing to the new thing. It is one of the most advanced things about our species. If we had to look at every new thing with a completely blank slate our mind would be constantly overwhelmed and we wouldn't adequately be able to perceive threats, possible good things, etc. quick enough to respond. It's human nature to apply generalizations, and it's an absolutely key function of our species. As far as discrimination, we've evolved in small groups, clans, tribes. We've evolved with people who look like us, and share similarities. We've evolved to be suspicious of those who do not fit into our clans. Those who differ. In general, it's been evolutionary reinforced because those you could generally trust were those like you... while outsiders may have just posed a threat. Spread those conditions over hundreds of thousands of years and... well, here's our brain today. We're a product of our evolution. You don't have to like it and you can wail against it all you like, but your brain is wired for generalizations and discrimination no less than the rest of humanity.Â
 @PleaseBeSmart I understand what definitions of the words stereotype and discrimination you are referring to. I am referring to "unfair treatment of a person, racial group, minority, etc; action based on
prejudice" which is only arguably NOT negative for the discriminator alone when the discriminator is benefitting from this behavior. If you are going to continue to argue in favor of the definition I just shared from a universal standpoint, please back it up with evidence-based research. Â
One such site worth entertaining: http://www.eeoc.gov/laws/types/nationalorigin.cfmÂ
 @Johnny HAH. It doesn't really need justification. Stereotypes often arise from noted traits. Sometimes that's not the case and it's out of pure ignorance and assumption, but sometimes stereotypes are completely accurate. That's not even debatable. And, as I said, discrimination is an innate human quality with important evolutionary origins. Also not really debatable. These things don't need to be "justified." They are not universally positive nor universally negative, as you would seem to believe. They're simply a part of our species and can be both beneficial and detrimental.Â
 @PleaseBeSmart PleaseDon'tJustifyDiscriminationOrStereotyping
 @Johnny The OP assumed he was Mexican because he is a Latino in this area. Statistically, that's probably correct. Assuming that someone is here illegally isn't racism. Illegals are a problem in this nation that our government is doing very little about, so it seems natural for people to be a bit hostile about it. Perhaps you should look up the definition of racism. If you want to call it discrimination, feel free. Of course it is. Discriminating is an innate trait of human beings and serves a valuable evolutionary function. Like it or not, even babies notice differences in race and prefer those they perceive to be like them/their parents. And like it or not, different nationalities and cultures are, well... different. As such, it's natural to have preferences. Everyone likes things about some cultures and dislikes things about other cultures. Not liking someone's nationality or their culture doesn't equate to not liking their race. While I recognize there are differences between races, I really don't care. Culture is an entirely different story.
 @PleaseBeSmart Assuming that he is an 'illegal alien' because he is Latino IS racist; even though nationality, culture, ethnicity and race have different definitions doesn't mean they don't fall under the same discriminatory gravity.
I think that these situations are really tough, let me explain. If males and females are stimulated enough, the desire or urge for sex usually follows, that is nature. A nude dancer is obviously in the business of providing stimulation. In return he or see receives compensation. In an ideal situation this may be as far as it goes. However in a numbers game eventually someone providing stimulation is going to run into someone that is not able to control their emotions. The result is obvious. In my opinion there is never any excuse for rape, but it does happen and therefore it is advisable to not put oneself into a situation where that is the possible or probable outcome. It seems as though in recent years there is more and more lack of self control, restraint etc. We see it in road rage, we see it on these comment sites, we see it in demonstrations, child abuse, sex abuse, adultry, the list goes on and on. Personal responsibility begins with good parenting, which is shore up by good education. When those fail the criminal justice systems steps in. I believe the criminal justice system has failed even more than parents and educators. Truth and honor are the only way back.
I get rapes when it's in a secluded area or they have a weapon, but how does something like this happen? Scream your head off, gouge his eyes out, punch him in the throat, try to rip is balls off... something. You might come out with a black eye or two but it's better than being raped. And on that same note, how the heck would anyone think they're going to get away with raping someone in a public place that has bouncers?!
 @PleaseBeSmart Please think about it @PleaseBeSmart, she's already naked as she is stripping, and he waited until she was faced away from him... and she did quickly fight free and get help.
 @SkinnersGhost Also, I guess when it said he exposed himself I just assumed that it meant that she saw it prior to him grabbing her.
 @SkinnersGhost I'm still not seeing it being as easy as all that. Not to be too graphic, but it generally takes more than a split second to pull someone from standing into the right position and line it up to get it in. Mind you, I don't blame the young woman and I'm not doubting what's she's saying... I just can't really see it in my mind. Because a split second is all it should take for you to react to someone grabbing you. I don't know... maybe it's just my perception. The article leaves a lot out. I wonder how long between him grabbing her and her breaking free? =/ Hm.Â
Seems like this kind of thing kind of goes with the territory in that line of work.
 @Dikweed Oh come on, she's not out walking the streets. She's in a public business with bouncers. How on Earth does this sort of thing come with the territory? =/
@PleaseBeSmart @Dikweed the so called bouncer was paid like a pimp and let it happen
just guessing =)
@PleaseBeSmart ok well thats off the table i've got to get better at this guessing game=)
 @IAMHIGH I might give some credit to that scenario, except the bouncers held the guy until the cops got there.
@Dikweed But thats no excuse to rape a woman, he needs to be put down or have his Dik cut off=)
