Police cite driver in fatal pedestrian crash
A car hit a pedestrian Thursday morning at 18th Avenue and Chambers Street in Eugene. The pedestrian later died from her injuries.

EUGENE, Ore. - Police officials cited the driver who hit and killed a woman with his van in late November, police said.

Tamara Kay Glenn, 45 of Springfield, was crossing Chambers Street at 18th Ave. when at around 8:40 a.m. when a full-sized Chevy van making a turn ran into her, officials said.

Police said that the driver of the van, Michael Alston, 44 of Eugene, was cited for careless driving, with the addition of "causing the death of a vulnerable user of the public roadway".

Police report that Alston was driving west on 18th when he made a right-hand turn onto Chambers. He hit Glenn, who was in the Chambers Street crosswalk.

Glenn was taken to the hospital, where she later died from injuries sustained in the crash.
