SALEM, Ore. – Salem police found a man dead inside his car in a ditch Saturday morning after they responded to reports of gunshots nearby.

It happened in the area of Fairway Avenue and Reese Hill Road Southeast at around 3 a.m., according to Lt. Dave Okada.

Police said the man, later identified as Andrew Entizne, 32 of McMinneville, was driving a silver sedan.

Officials haven't specified if the man died from injuries in the crash or from gunfire.

Neighbors told KATU News they heard five gunshots.

"I would say this is a really quiet neighborhood," said neighbor Mark Wade. "Anything like that would kind of surprise me. Seems like a retirement community. My wife and I walk around here all the time, never seen anything suspicious."

Detectives said they suspect the incident was gang-related. Police did not release any additional details.

Anyone with information about this case is asked to call Detective Vasas at 503-588-6123.
