Oregon man gets 35 years for kidnap-rape: 'You deserve every year of it'
HERMISTON, Ore. (AP) — A 29-year-old Eastern Oregon man has been sentenced to 35 years in prison for kidnapping and raping his former girlfriend.
Officers arrested Alberto Quiroz Martinez in May after a standoff at a cabin in northern Klamath County ended with officers wounding him.
Authorities say he took the woman from her workplace, a Hermiston drugstore, put her in the trunk of his car and drove about 300 miles to the cabin at Crescent Lake.
Martinez pleaded guilty Dec. 21 to charges of kidnapping, rape and sodomy, the East Oregonian reported.
Judge Dan Hill sentenced him Thursday to serve his sentences without a chance for early release or alternative incarceration.
"You deserve every year of it, as I think you know," Hill said. "You have done a hideous thing."
In 2003, Martinez was accused of kidnapping a former girlfriend after her high school graduation party. He was convicted of attempted rape, kidnapping and attempted sodomy and served 7 1/2 years.
The mother of the Hermiston woman kidnapped earlier this year said the young woman had met Martinez three weeks after he was released from prison, moved in with him five months later and then broke up with him a few weeks before she was attacked and kidnapped.
Police said Martinez used a knife to hold the woman as a shield when an Oregon state trooper shot him after a two-hour standoff May 1. He suffered a slight head wound.
