DOUGLAS COUNTY, Ore. -- A man was taken by Life Flight to a Springfield hospital on Wednesday evening, after a serious rollover crash on Interstate 5.
Troopers were called to I-5 at milepost 146 southbound, for the report of a small Kia sedan that was on it's top.
When emergency crews arrived, they found Leo Ray McClure, 63, of Coquille, unresponsive.
McClure had to be extricated from the vehicle, and Life Flight was called in to meet up with the ambulance about four miles away.
OSP says that as of Thursday morning, McClure was still in critical condition at Sacred Heart at RiverBend in Springfield with what they said were serious head injuries.
Officials say that an investigation revealed that the man was traveling in the fast lane, when for an unknown reason, he drove onto the shoulder towards the median. Authorities say he then over corrected and lost control of the car.
That's when officials say the vehicle slid across the road and into an embankment and became airborn.
The vehicle ended up on it's top in the roadway.
