Shooting victim found in woman's backyard
SPRINGFIELD, Ore. -- A woman reported finding a man bleeding with an apparent gunshot wound to his leg in her back yard early Saturday morning, Springfield Police Officers said.
The incident was initially reported as a gunshot wound reported in the area of 11th Place and R St. at around 1:40 a.m. Saturday. When officers arrived on-scene they were unable to find a victim, however they were able to locate blood spatter around the area.
Just minutes after SPD canvassed the scene dispatchers received a call that a woman living nearby reported finding a man in her back yard. She said that the man was bleeding from his leg.
Officers went to the residence and located a 26-year-old man with a gunshot wound to his leg. He was transported to Riverbend Hospital for treatment.
SPD detectives interviewed the victim attempting to get information about the shooting. The man gave up very little information about how he was shot, or who shot him.
