Man who urinated in drinking water faces 'misuse of reservoir' charge

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — The 23-year-old man who urinated in a Portland drinking-water reservoir will be arraigned Thursday in Multnomah County Circuit Court.
Records filed Tuesday indicate Joshua Seater will be charged with misuse of a reservoir.
The Oregonian reports Seater is eligible for community court, which means he'll likely face a punishment of community service.
The incident in June 2011 at the Mount Tabor reservoir prompted the Portland Water Bureau to drain the 7.5 million-gallon reservoir at a cost of about $36,000.
Water Bureau Administrator David Shaff says he's satisfied with the likely punishment.

Yes, what is a measly 36K. Well if it was my decision this guy would work at minimum wage for the Water Bureau until 36K was paid off, but no it is just taxpayer money, what the heck it will always be there to waste.
7.5 million gallons of water is unlikely to be affected in any health injurious way by even a full bladder from any individual.  Â
if the guy was disease free and just stupid that was a waste of 36,000 dollars.
@drinkmorewater Well, it is hard to tell if he was disease free, who knows what was in the water BEFORE he peed? I'm guessing there is more to the story. He certainly was acting pretty stupid. I agree with you it all seems a little much, except maybe making him do community service so he keeps his pants zipped.
