Motorcyclist in ICU after crash
SPRINGFIELD, Ore. - A motorcylist remains in intensive care after he collided with a guardrail late Sunday, police said.
Kenneth Earle McFarland, 55, of Junction City crashed at 10:40 p.m. in the 1800 block of South A Street in Springfield. A caller told police McFarland hit a guardrail and was thrown 100 feet from his bike by the impact.
McFarland was taken to Sacred Heart Medical Center at RiverBend, where he was in the ICU as of Monday morning, police said.
Springfield Police said their initial investigation suggests speed and alcohol may have been contributing factors in the crash.
If anyone has any additional information, they are asked to call the Springfield Police Department at (541) 726-3714.
I've been riding a street bike since 1977. The risk is so great in a sober state of mind, I can't imagine what compells someone to have a few drinks or beers and then get on one....it's a death wish.
I hope the best for Ken and his loved ones. This will be a life changing event for everyone close to him.
These wrecks are so brutal. Limbs are usually lost in these situations. I'll stick with my 7000 pound truck.
