EUGENE, Ore. - Two retailers combined forces to open a general store in a part of downtown Eugene undergoing a period of revitalization and new growth.
PH - a collaboration of Plume Red and Heritage Dry Goods - plans a grand opening celebration Friday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at 861 Willamette Street.
Plume Red specializes in products with a European flare, and Heritage Dry Goods focuses on American made items.
The co-owners are Cindy Matherly and Nicole Gillson, two moms whose kids went to the same school. They became friends 2 years ago and worked up this business.
They call it the modern extension of the old time general store. They sell heavy blankets, pottery, linens, hand made cards, Italian toothpaste, American craft chocolates.
They also have a piece of Eugene history: their front counter is an original piece of furniture from the Oregon Electric Station.
They say the new investment and energy downtown drew them to that area to help boost the retail in the area.
KVAL News is working on a special report on how downtown Eugene has changed in the past 5 years, tentatively set to air #LiveOnKVAL November 14.
