OSP: Drunk driver rear ends semi trailer on I-5
SALEM, Ore. -- Troopers say a man was driving drunk when he rear-ended a semi trailer on Interstate 5 early Tuesday morning.
Oregon State Police say that just after midnight, John C. Stevens, 32, of Keizer, was northbound on I-5 in his 2002 Lexus, when it crashed into the semi trailer.
Troopers say the car became lodged under the trailer and both rigs continued up the freeway a short distance before the semi was able to pull over.
The car came lose and Stevens was able to stop it, troopers said.
Stevens was taken to a Salem hospital with what authorities say were non-life threatening injuries.
Troopers cited Stevens with DUII and reckless driving. He'll appear in Marion County Court.
The truck driver wasn't hurt in the crash.
"The truck Driver wasn't hurt in the crash" BUT his insurance will go up by around 33% for the next 3 years. The company he works for may then have to let him go. So he's not Physically hurt/ injured, just possibly financially ruined by a random rear ending. I had a drunk bum bicyclist rear end me while I was waiting in a drive up line and it didn't matter to the insurance companies. No damage or anything. I just hope the truck driver dosn't get screwed, we need guys moving our economy somewhere.
Kinda gives a new meaning to that old song "One more for the road".
OK now there's tailgating and then there's TAILGATING ...Alcohol ain't it great
golly, what possibly could look reckless about that?

Here is another example. Â We have laws "preventing" drunk driving, but it doesn't do one single thing for the person who wants to drink and drive.Â
Â
Gun laws pointed at taking away gun owners rights won't do anything to prevent outrageous acts of violence.Â
