OSP stop reportedly leads to over a pound of heroin seized

DOUGLAS COUNTY, Ore. -- Oregon State Police say a Saturday afternoon traffic stop near Sutherlin led to the arrest of two men, after a trooper discovered over a pound of heroin concealed in the vehicle.

Officials say that just before 6:00 p.m., a trooper stopped a 1997 Honda Accord for a traffic violation near milepost 133 northbound.

The two occupants were identified as Jose Manuel Hernandez-Orozco, 27, of Vancouver, Washington, and passenger Gerardo Elizondo-Arias, 41, of Fairview, Oregon.

With the assistance from a Sutherlin police officer, troopers say they found about 1.1 pounds of heroin and other evidence in the trunk of the car.

Both men were arrested and lodged in the Douglas County Jail.

Hernandez-Orozco was charged with unlawful possession and distribution of heroin. Elizondo-Arias was charged with the same, as well as furnishing false information to police and unlawful possession of a fictitious identification.
